COLOSSIANS: Reimagining The Story Of Life

John Lennon starts off his well known hit “Imagine” asking us to use our imagination to envision a world free of nationalities, religions and material possessions with the hope that the world would finally be at peace and humanity would finally be one. The song has remained popular primarily because of its easy flowing tune and really who doesn’t want to imagine a world finally achieving happiness and rest. The question we have to ask ourselves is this the Story that is true and will actually bring about the desired end? There are many stories being told in our world: politicians tell them, spiritual and self-help gurus sell them and our cultures subtlety share and shape them. But is it possible that there is a True Story? Is there a Story that makes sense of all that has and is happening and achieves what all our hearts long for deep inside? Is True unrelenting never ending always and forever love and happiness possible? Paul in his letter to the Colossians is appealing to them and to all who will listen that there is such a Story. He is asking us to Reimagine the Story of life and to see not only its benefits but more importantly to know the benefactor.
