Church has become something that is best viewed as a place where I go to get my spiritual needs met. However, Jesus while desiring to meet our needs never saw the church as a location or as a place focused on my individual desires and needs. Rather, Jesus calls us into a relationship with himself and with others who are being drawn to him to be something they could never be apart from him and one another. The Church is an identity that is ours because we have been united with Jesus. This identity through the gospel (good news) renews and shapes every dimension and aspect of our life. From what I think and believe to how I feel and behave. The identity of being the Church is pervasive and calls me to see Jesus and his mission as the center and the goal of all I do.
